Wild lionesses are almost always seen hunting for food. But, those who live in zoos or as pets do not have to hunt for their food. As a result, lions become more friendly towards humans, especially those who care for them. On social networks, a sweet video with a romantic bond between a man and a lioness has gone viral.
Those who do not see the whole scene may believe that the lioness is attacking the man. Val Gruener, the guy, is caring for Sirga, a lioness in a reserve in the Kalahari Desert in Botswana (southern Africa).
Val raised the 9-year-old lioness, and the two have a very close bond. On Instagram, he frequently posts captivating photos of himself and Sirga. Sirga also has an Instagram account called “sirgathelions” which has 78,000 subscribers.
He uploaded a video a few weeks ago with the caption: “Kalahari catwalk”. The post received around 2,700 likes. In the video, Val can be seen opening the door to the lion enclosure. Then Sirga jumps up to greet him and hug them. They are then seen sitting and relaxing together in the desert.
